Content Management

Setting up a Content Management System

CMS' simplify the creation and administration of online content such as text, images, news, banners, integration of social networks, etc. They are mostly used for web pages with a high degree of topicality and information such as online newspapers, information portals, corporate portals and intranets.

Content management systems are characterized by the following features:

  • Strict separation of content and layout: Unlike static websites, the content (texts, images, video clips, etc.) and styles (templates) are stored separately in a CMS. If a corresponding web page is called, it is dynamically generated by the various contents being loaded and placed in an appropriate template.
  • Component management: In content management systems, the content and metadata supplied by the authors are stored in a component database (content component database). Editors can choose from these individual components (text, images, ...) and put together articles that can be published.
  • Workflow Management: A CMS provides mechanisms that allow to define and control the workflow (sequence of steps). Thus, the composite article is checked by the Chief Editor, edited if necessary, and approved by him for online publication. The articles published on the website remain online for a certain time and are stored in an archive after this time.

dotCMS and OpenCms - The solution from Scentis

We offer two CMS solutions: OpenCms and dotCMS. Both are proven open source Enterprise solutions based on Java which can be integrated into the existing system environments.

With OpenCms as a basis, we develop large scale websites, which we integrate into existing processes. We use OpenCms under Windows, Linux, Solaris and Mac OS system environments.

When the custemer want to control as much content as possible, we offer a dotCMS solution. Without having to know Java, the editor has access to a lot of features with a script editor. Many features are easy to add to existing modules. But dotCMS is a robust system with which you can create multiple websites within an installation and use assets (pictures, documents, videos) in common.

OpenCms - robust and unending extensible CMS

Opensource Projects

How safe are the Opensource projects? Furthermore, there is much discussion and many projects in PHP may already have potential vulnerabilities, especially in community-managed projects.

We therefore use only Java programming projects by recognized experts. We also use open source. NET projects, but our C# programmers analyze the sources for possible defects.
